Raw Image Data

RAW files contain unprocessed data directly from a digital camera's image sensor. often referred to as 'digital negatives,' these files store the maximum amount of information about the captured scene, including dynamic range and color data. RAW files are not ready for immediate display and must be processed (developed) using software to adjust settings like exposure, white balance, and contrast. Sample RAW files are used to test image editing software and raw processing engines. Developers use them to verify that valid image data can be demosaiced and converted into viewable formats. They are also used to test the handling of camera-specific metadata (EXIF/IPTC) and to benchmark the performance of non-destructive editing workflows.
